THR 109/Theater Director



The Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Professor of Theatre to teach Play Production and manage all technical operations for the department's spring theatre production. The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping students' understanding of technical theatre while ensuring the smooth construction/development of the spring production designs.



Courses Taught:



  • THR 109: Play Production (Modality: In Person)? this course introduces students to the fundamental aspects of technical theatre, including scenic construction, lighting, sound, costuming, stage management, and production safety. The large projects of this course are aimed towards developing the technical elements of the departmental production.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Play Production, emphasizing project-based learning and safety practices in technical theatre.
  • Supervise and guide students in developing technical skills necessary for theatre production.
  • Oversee and manage all technical operations for the spring departmental production, including set construction, costuming, lighting, and sound design.
  • Coordinate with production director and theatre program coordinator to execute all technical aspects of the spring show, from pre-production through strike.
  • Maintain a safe and organized scene shop and ensure proper care and maintenance of all technical theatre equipment.


THR 107 Faculty



The Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Professor of Theatre specializing in acting. The primary teaching assignment will be Acting I, with the possibility of additional courses based on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. We seek a passionate and creative educator committed to fostering students' growth in performance and their understanding of acting as a craft.



Courses Taught:



  • THR 107: Acting 1 (Modality: In Person)?an introductory course focused on the fundamentals of acting, including character development, script analysis, improvisation, and scene work. Suited for theatre majors and non-majors.
  • Potential Additional Courses in Voice, Movement, Theatre History, or Playwriting depending on candidate's expertise.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Acting I, emphasizing character development and introductory acting analysis techniques.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate with Theatre Program Coordinator to ensure students are supported within their theatre studies and connected to the program-wide activities.
  • Collaborate with theatre faculty on departmental goals and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • BA/BFA in Technical Theatre, or a related field. Plus, significant professional experience in technical theatre, with demonstrated expertise in the various technical sub-areas.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • MFA in Theatre Design, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly at the college or university level.
  • Experience designing or overseeing technical elements for theatre productions.


THR 107 Faculty

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • MFA in Acting, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience, particularly at the college or university level.
  • Experience in additional areas of theatre, such as Voice, Movement, Theatre History, or Playwriting


Additional Information:

Salary: $1,397.00 per credit hour.
