Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Intermediate Level:
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects under the direction of the Laboratory Director.
  • Procure surgically discarded tissues from various UC Health surgical clinics as necessary as a back-up to the primary tissue collection specialist.
  • Pick up, transport, and log patient samples and materials related to tissue procurement as needed.
  • Maintain a lab notebook, analyze, tabulate, and present results during lab meetings.
  • Prepare lab for daily operations including validating and maintaining equipment, creating a safe and clean environment for research.
  • Maintain lab inventory including ordering and stocking supplies,
  • Be willing to handle biohazards, chemicals, and laboratory equipment. Complete any associated training or certification.

Senior Level:

All of the above, and:
  • Assist in developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain subject level documentation and prepare documents, equipment and/or supplies.
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and share results with leadership.
  • Provide laboratory science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of investigators, researchers, and clinicians.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at the Steadman Hawkins Inverness health clinic in Englewood, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
  • One (1) year professional level research experience in cell culture and/or RT-PCR and/or tissue dissection

Senior Level:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
  • Two (2) years professional level research experience in cell culture and/or RT-PCR and/or tissue dissection

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory
  • Experience in cell biology techniques including tissue processing, cell culture of primary human cells and cell-based assays; standard, fluorescent, and confocal microscopy; flow cytometry
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation; cDNA synthesis; real time PCR; western blot; DNA, RNA, and protein electrophoresis; CRISPR-Cas9 construct design
  • Proven ability to work independently

  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

Intermediate: $48,970-$62,290

Senior: $52,941-$67,341

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
