Job Summary:
This position is with the Cochrane Eyes and Vision US Project (CEV@US). The mission of the CEV US Project is to build a critical mass of evidence-based eyes and vision healthcare providers and researchers. The main goal of CEV@US is to support authors with preparing and completing systematic reviews in eyes and vision. Primary duties include: (1) providing methodological support to produce systematic reviews on ophthalmic topics; (2) supporting research project coordination such as: participant recruitment and retention; regulatory compliance; data collection, management, and analysis; communications management; resource procurement; cost and schedule monitoring; and grant application and reporting support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the systematic review process such as refining research questions, identifying and assessing relevant research studies for eligibility, critically appraising primary studies for bias, developing data collection forms, extracting/entering data, performing qualitative and quantitative synthesis (meta-analyses) of primary studies, and preparing manuscripts for publication in The Cochrane Library.
- Serve as a technical expert and provide regular consultation to more than 50 US-based eye care clinicians and vision researchers conducting systematic reviews and performs any or all of the key tasks mentioned above to provide assistance as necessary.
- Works closely with the Project Director, Principal Investigator, and additional CEV staff in the United Kingdom to resolve methodological and statistical issues and to ensure that reviews conducted by US-based researchers are of the highest quality.
- Assist with the development and preparation of training materials and actively participate in workshops on evidence-based healthcare and systematic review preparation.
- Participate in methodological research conducted by CEV@US faculty, provide support to staff by identifying unpublished clinical trials, assists with reports to the funding agency, participates in journal clubs, organizes conference calls and staff meetings, and performs other tasks as assigned.

Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Intermediate
- Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis
- One (1) year of data management and bioinformatic analysis experience
Senior
- Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis
- Two (2) years data management and bioinformatic analysis experience
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Intermediate
- Master's degree in bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field
- Two (2) years of experience analyzing data using high-performance computing
Senior
- Master's degree in bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience analyzing data using high-performance computing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in medical research
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches
- Demonstrated fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C++) and willingness to learn new programming languages as necessary
- Familiarity with statistical analytical concepts and methods
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$55,352 - $70,407
Senior
$59,840 - $76,116
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
