Bucknell University's Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Non-Western Political Thought beginning in the fall semester of 2025. We expect to hire at the Assistant Professor level. We seek candidates whose scholarly and teaching interests focus on any region outside of Europe and North America, although we will also consider candidates who work on Indigenous Thought in North or South America. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a core course in political theory as well as courses in their areas of specialty.
We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching and research will contribute to the department's commitment to both diversity and academic excellence. Evidence of teaching experience and excellence as well as the promise of being a productive scholar are critically important. The teaching load is five courses over two semesters. By the start date of the position, candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Political Science with a sub-field specialization in political theory. Outstanding candidates in the final stages of their dissertation will be considered but must complete their degree in their first year at Bucknell in order to continue employment after the first year.
