Description:
The School of Education seeks an Assistant or Associate professor (tenure-track) with expertise in Elementary Science and/or STEM Education to teach courses and maintain an empirical research program relevant to these areas. The individual hired for this position will serve the school's Department of Curriculum and Instruction and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in Science/STEM Education. This new hire will contribute to the school's efforts to build capacity for STEM Education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishing and maintaining an active research agenda relevant to elementary science and/or STEM education.
- Seeking and securing grant funding to support programmatic research and outreach activities.
- Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
- Recruiting and mentoring graduate students.
- Engaging in service to the profession, department, school, and university.
- Strengthening outreach efforts to the greater learning community through professional development and synergistic collaboration.
SALARY AND BEGINNING DATE: The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is August 1, 2025.

Qualifications:
Consistent with Baylor's mission to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals, the qualifications for the position include:
- Doctorate in science education, STEM education, or a closely related field.
- Record of scholarship commensurate with experience, and evidence of potential for establishing and sustaining a strong research agenda that contributes to improving equity and excellence in elementary science/STEM Education.
- Evidence of (or strong potential for) securing competitive extramural funding to support a programmatic research agenda.
- Experience teaching science and/or STEM in grades EC-6 (three or more years preferred).
- Expertise in evidence-based approaches for teaching science or STEM to elementary students.
- Evidence of, or strong potential for, excellence in university-level teaching.
- Experience working with preservice or practicing teachers to support inclusive instruction in diverse school communities.
- A history of active engagement in a faith community in the Christian or Jewish tradition.
