Description
The School of Nursing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full time 12-month faculty member for a tenure earning position as Assistant Professor in the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration. The School of Nursing offers the BSN, and DNP degree in Nursing and embraces the shared governance model as well as Boyer's Model of scholarship. This position is effective January 1, 2025.
Qualifications
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with a doctoral degree in nursing preferred or in a related area. A minimum of two years' experience in clinical practice as a CRNA is required. Experienced teaching in didactic and/or clinical nurse anesthesia education programs desirable. Must be eligible for RN licensure and Certificate of Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to practice as a CRNA in the state of Tennessee. Professional membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists required.
Application Instructions
Reporting to the School of Nursing Director and Nurse Anesthesia Coordinator, this faculty member is responsible for the achievement of concentration academic goals. This faculty will participate in the advisement of all nurse anesthesia and pre-anesthesia students, actively participate in concentration and departmental meetings and activities, participate in student recruitment for the concentration, and support the general development of students, the School of Nursing and the College. The individual is expected to be a participating member of the University faculty with all its rights and responsibilities.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
A listing of areas of partial responsibility (not all-inclusive)
- Teaching/instruction using appropriate methodologies to aid in transfer of knowledge and development of critical thinking skills
- Student advisement and evaluation in the areas of didactic and clinical performance
- Participation on SON, College, and University committees as appropriate to rank
- Serve as an ambassador for the School of Nursing and the Nurse Anesthesia Concentration and a liaison between students, anesthesia staff and university faculty and personnel
- Chair/serve on DNP scholarly project committees
- Other related duties as required.
