Job Summary:
The Department of Medicine in the Bone Marrow Transplantation and Hematological Malignancies Program at the University of Colorado is looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join a research lab focused on the study of hematopoietic stem cell biology. Principal responsibilities of the position will be to be to perform key laboratory support and management tasks, manage experimental animal colonies and support the scientific program of the lab by assisting with and/or independently conducting experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigators (PI) and other laboratory staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
- Isolation of rare blood and blood progenitor cells from bone marrow using magnetic bead separation and flow cytometry.
- CRISPR gene editing of primary cells.
- In vitro functional assays on blood progenitor cells; maintenance of cell cultures.
- In vivo murine modeling
- Primer design and DNA/RNA manipulation
- Molecular cloning
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Intermediate Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year professional level research experience.
Senior Level:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- Two (2) years professional level research experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
- Prior experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
- Working knowledge of FlowJo, Microsoft Office, Prism, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level: $45,000 - $57,240
Intermediate Level: $48,970 - $62,290
Senior Level: $52,941 - $67,341
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
